With 600 members and numerous industrial and institutional partnerships, our learned society works to share knowledge, innovation and foresight in the fields of water science and engineering.

The SHF brings together manufacturers, consultancies, operators, public and private research centres and public players. It provides a multi-disciplinary, cross-disciplinary forum for all aspects of water-related knowledge: scientific, socio-economic and technological knowledge of the industry.
Training, knowledge transfer and networking are at the heart of the SHF’s activities. Conferences and seminars, publication of the international journal LHB : Hydroscience Journal, distribution of technical works and white papers enable members of our learned society to broaden the reflective scope of their know-how and practice.
The SHF’s fields of study cover all aspects of water: quantitative and qualitative resources, hydrology, hydraulics, fluid mechanics, hydrotechnical sciences, risk studies, hydropower, hydraulic machinery, new technologies for water, hydromorphology, new renewable energies (particularly marine), simulation and digital modelling.
This list also includes social and environmental engineering, as well as economic and social issues.
