Strategic Topics
The consequences of climate change and anthropogenic impacts are at the heart of the division’s work: diagnosis, projections, adaptation measures, including improved risk assessment and forecasting. The division’s activities also aim to publicize and promote the main scientific and technical advances and to illustrate their recent applications in the fields of hydrometry, the use of new types of data (remote sensing, data produced by the general public), risk assessment and mapping, with an emphasis on methods that can be applied on a large scale, new applications based on artificial intelligence, and watershed management.
The division’s activities are aimed at practitioners, technicians, engineers, researchers and decision-makers working in the fields of aquatic environment management, water resource management and flood prevention. The division is involved in several SHF partnerships with ASTEE, AFEPTB, the Water Academy and AFEID.
It should be noted that some members of the division participated in the drafting of the 2017 Technical Memento, a new reference for the design of wastewater systems in France.
Manifestations récentes et futures
The division participated in the realization of the EVAN symposium (September 2019), “Drought, low water levels and water deficits” (December 2019). An event on “Runoff risk: diagnosis and solutions” is being prepared (Nov-Dec 2020). A new edition of the “Hydrometry” conference should also be organized in September 2021.
