Presentation

According to the Sendai Declaration adopted in 2015, resilience is the ability of a system, community, or society exposed to hazards to resist, absorb, cope with, adapt to, transform and recover from the effects of a hazard, in a timely and effective manner, including by preserving and restoring its essential basic structures and functions through risk management.

The concept of resilience is now increasingly present in society’s expectations and is making headway in the engineering sector.

The field of water, with its extreme phenomena and overall management of resources, represents a privileged sector in which the concept of resilience can be developed and implemented.

The aim of the working group is to propose a methodological approach to resilience and its implementation in the water sector. The proposed activities are part of the various events organised by the division and the SHF, as well as the collection and dissemination of good practice.
