Presentation

Water-related professions are changing rapidly, particularly with the advent of information and communication technologies, which are spreading to all professional sectors. These new methods and tools offer the possibility of improving the various services linked to water and, at the same time, require certain traditional engineering approaches to be rethought, for example by introducing concepts such as resilience into risk management or asset management.

In this context, the training of new engineers and working professionals is a major element that must enable the acquisition of new skills and innovative know-how in order to meet the needs of society in the context of rational management of water resources. Learning methods must necessarily evolve to take better account of the complexity of the problems to be managed.

The working group’s ambition is to bring together those involved in training in the water sector and to propose new training methods based, for example, on the concepts of the project approach, problem solving and the flipped classroom. New digital tools such as webinars, online forums, video tutorials and remote access to shared computing resources are at the heart of the working group’s reflections.
